How to Cook the Perfect Fry-Up

We hope you came hungry, for this Full English (or Full Monty) is going to leave you well-fed and throwing your diet out the window. We English know how to cook up quite the spread for your morning meal. We’ll have none of that cereal and milk or butter and toast stuff. We’d like to share some insider information about cooking the perfect Full English which will satisfy the most ravenous of guests. Shall we get started?

The Full Monty, as we often call this meal, usually consists of bacon, eggs, sausages, fried bread or toast, fried or grilled tomatoes, and fried mushrooms served with a steaming mug of black tea. Other additions might include potato cakes, hash browns, and baked beans. The menu often varies by region.

If you want to have homemade bread, prepare and bake it the night before so it is ready to be fried or toasted in the morning. As soon as you arise and begin in the kitchen, preheat the oven to about 250 degrees. You may start by setting the table, preparing welcoming places for each guest. Be sure the table is well-stocked with condiments such as vinegar, marmalades, ketchup, and mustard.

Start cooking the meats first, allowing the bacon, sausage, or ham to sizzle slowly. If necessary, you can also keep the meats warm in the oven later on.

Potatoes come next as they will take a little way to bake. Wash, peel, and slice potatoes. You may bake them, boil them, or fry them. Cooking times vary for each method, so be sure you know what you’re doing. Any easier route for breakfast is to use dinner leftovers, which is actually quite common.

In the meantime, you can be grilling the tomatoes in the oven should you not have a free burner or grilling range. Load up the cheese and bake the tomatoes to perfection. You should also prepare and fry the mushrooms at this time. Put the beans in a pan and baked them as well.

Finally, prepare the eggs and fry the toast. Hopefully, by the time you have reached this place, the kitchen hasn’t burned down and all of the food is still relatively warm. Serve everything with hot tea, and don’t forget the butter, cream, and jam. What a way to down all of your daily calories in one sitting!
