Diamond Jubilee 2012 Countdown

There have been milestones that Queen Elizabeth II has celebrated since her coronation in 1953. Her 64 year marriage to His Royal Highness the Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh and her 85th birthday on 21 April 2011 are just a couple occasions.

The most current and noteworthy celebration is The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration during the first weekend in June 2012. The Queen is the second monarch to celebrate 60 years as a reigning royal; the first was Queen Victoria who celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

London will be preparing for this phenomenal celebration. Buckingham Palace has the main responsibility for all preparations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Queen Elizabeth II is monarch to 16 sovereign states, 12 were British colonies at the beginning of her Majesty’s ascension to the throne. 6 February 2012 marks the 60th year that Queen Elizabeth II has reigned and this is making royal history and an unparalleled reason to celebrate worldwide.

Her Majesty’s ascension to the throne too place in June 1952 after the death of her father King George VI. The Queen’s coronation took place in June of 1953. There will be a Diamond Jubilee pageant on 3 June when Her Majesty the Queen will lead more than a thousand boats down the Thames as part of the Queen s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. London will be part of this history and will be witness to the display of the ‘Elizabeth Bell’ that was forged by Whitechapel Bell Foundry.

The Queen s Diamond Jubilee celebrations will take place in London and throughout the world to help mark this outstanding part of history. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be traveling to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and of course England to mark her 60 year reign. special school closures and bank holidays have been changed so the the honour of Her Majesty’s 60 year reign is witnessed by Londoner’s across the Commonwealth and the world will see the strengthening of the Sovereign’s role the weekend of 2nd June through the 5th of June.
