How to Make Christmas Decorations

One of the best parts of Christmas is the decorations, and you can have a lot of fun by creating your own. Paper Christmas decorations can be easy to make and help create great memories for you and your loved ones.

Involve the kids

For ornaments that are easy to make, use your computer. Print out Christmas symbols like wreaths, trees and snowflakes. These will be easy for kids to cut and color, and all you need is a hole punch and a string to turn their colored cut outs into tree ornaments.

For a more grown-up paper ornament, turn to heavy card stock. Print out three to five outlines of Christmas trees or stars in progressively smaller sizes. Cut them out and glue them in descending order for a three dimensional effect. Paint them a holiday color and then decorate with glitter or shiny stickers. Use a hole puncher and string to finish off your ornament.

You can also make your own Christmas window decorations. You can use scissors to cut out snowflakes of varying sizes and tape up for a traditional window decoration. Simply painting a Christmas scene onto your window using one part washable paint mixed with one part liquid dishwashing soap is another great way to decorate your window.

Union Jack Christmas Decorations

If you are looking for unique Christmas decorations to make, try an ornament with a Union Jack Design. Print out a Union Jack in colour or print it in black and white and colour yourself. Hole punch and hang with string, or cut it into a Christmas symbol like a tree or star.

When you make your own Christmas decorations, don’t forget the wreath! Buy a simple ring of pine, and put on your own personal touch with the unique Christmas ornaments you have made. Or step outside and gather some pinecones to adorn your wreath.

Whichever option you choose, making your own Christmas decorations can become one of your favourite Christmas activities. Just take your time, use your imagination and have fun.
