Jessica Ennis – Olympic Star & Role Model

Jessica Ennis has started to become a household name after her Olympic gold medal in the heptathlon. Born in Sheffield, Ennis started running when her parents introduced her to a track and field event one summer. She seemed to have a natural talent in track and field despite the fact that her parents weren’t talented in athletics. With the help of her coach Toni Minichiello, she continued to excel and compete in national and international competitions.

The outstanding performances of Ennis over the past four years led her to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics for Team GB. Her victory was no ordinary feat. The heptathlon consists of seven separate events. Ennis placed first in 6 out of the 7 events and placed second for the remaining event. She bested the runner up by a staggering 306 points and also set a new British record.

She’s said that her fiancé Andy Hill has been her rock throughout her competitive years and wow that the competition is over, they can finally resume wedding plans. It seems that the future is only going to get brighter for Britain’s new golden girl.
